Around 2 to 4 quarts suits one or two people; 5 to 6 quarts fits most families. Dual-basket models cook two foods at once.

Basket or oven style

Basket models are compact and crisp food well. Oven-style models have racks and windows and can toast or bake.

Wattage

Most use 1,400 to 1,800 watts. Check your outlet and avoid running it on the same circuit as another big appliance.

Footprint

Measure counter space and the height under upper cabinets.

Cleaning

Dishwasher-safe baskets save time. Check what the coating is made of.
